Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer born in Washington, D.C., who was the first female to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain fame. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole had her submit her tracks in the direction of his Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to collaborate together on a few references. On the 8th of December she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. Her Pho EP was released on her debut album on the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she went on to appear on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video then released in September. On the 9th of November the singer released two more singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One or Pdigree. She then appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album the same title. In February of 2019 the video music for the song was released. The song has received over 3 million YouTube views in just a single week. She was the supporting act for 6LACK during their From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
